Toward the end of high school I began to resent art. It bothered me that everyone I knew was constantly expecting to draw things for them. I was young and pretty stupid, so I chose to quit creating. I stuck to this for a few years, but one day while working at the IRS, I made a fried that desired to learn how to draw. They wanted to draw a picture of their mother, and so I offered to teach them. At the same time, I pulled out my pencils and some printer paper and drew a portrait of my own. Strangely, I found that in my absence from creative endeavors, I actually got much better at it. Not sure how that happened, but this picture of Chris Farley ended up being the best I’d ever drawn, and from then on, realism became a pretty easy thing to accomplish.
